🌱 Our first five trees are being planted 🌱

This marks an important moment for our tree planting project in Malawi.

These first five trees are now being planted as part of a wider community-led programme that focuses on more than just planting trees. The project supports local tree nurseries, provides paid work, and creates long-term community woodlots that help with fuel security, soil protection, and sustainable land use.

Before a tree is planted, months of work go into it. Local growers raise saplings in nurseries, care for them daily, and are paid for their work when the saplings are collected and transported to planting sites. This approach ensures skills are valued and money stays within the community.

These first five trees represent the start of that cycle. They’re small in number, but they’re rooted in a model that prioritises people, livelihoods, and long-term impact over quick headlines.

We’re proud to see the project moving from preparation into planting, and we’ll continue to share progress as it grows.
